ABOUT THE BAND

Inspired from the classic swedish death metal scene, the band creates a new fresh sound with aggressive and fast paced music. With Melodic guitar riffs, heavy drums, a dark bass-sound and lyrics that are inspired by our own inner demons and inner and outer conflicts the band creates a unique raw sound.

Rotten Thorns was formed in Nyköping, Sweden in 2020 when the original drummer Marco and Junken met at a pizza show and discussed forming a new death metal band.

The goal was simple… to create a band honoring the old school, 90´s, death metal scene. Some weeks later Micke joined, bringing with him a bunch of texts and the first songs, Broken and Insomnia, took form. Some time later Henke joined and the first lineup was complete.

Mid 2022 Marco left the band and was replaced by Tarzan bringing with him a more energetic and fast paced drumming. The same year the band also released their first demo, Strike me Down, Seven tracks recorded and mixed the the rehersal studio.

Early 2024, Jacob joined the band as 2nd guitarrist. The bands sound was now complete. ”Jacob really brought with him a new sound bringing more life to our already exisiting songs, Junken says.”  

In 2025 the band will release two new singles, Angel and Point of no return.

”These songs does not present a new sound per se but they represent a clear evolution of the band, both as individual musicians and the band as a whole. They represent a more complex approach to songwriting and they really touch base with the 90´s sound that we were striving for in the beginning”, Junken explains.

These songs are, just like the first releases, mixed, mastered and released by the band itself but the recording techniques are a bit different.

”It´s apparent that we have learned a lot”. These are tracks that I, without any doubt, would turn on and listen to while driving to work.
